Role Purpose

Zain Iraq is actively recruiting to hire an IT System Architect who is responsible for designing, governing, and maintaining the end-to-end architecture of the organization's BSS, Digital, Integration, and API Management ecosystem. The role ensures that all technology solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, business objectives, security requirements, scalability, and operational excellence.

The IT System Architect acts as the technical authority for system architecture, solution design, API strategy, and enterprise integration while providing architectural guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the enterprise architecture for BSS, Digital, and Integration platforms.

• Design scalable, secure, and high-availability solution architectures that support current and future business requirements.

• Lead architecture design activities for new systems, enhancements, and technology transformation initiatives.

• Define and govern the enterprise API strategy, including API lifecycle management, security, versioning, and governance standards.

• Design integration architecture using API Management platforms, middleware, event-driven architecture, and microservices.

• Review and approve High-Level Design (HLD), Low-Level Design (LLD), and technical solution documents prepared by internal teams and vendors.

• Ensure architectural compliance with enterprise standards, security policies, and technology roadmaps.

• Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations for improving system performance, scalability, availability, and operational efficiency.

• Collaborate with business, project, operations, security, infrastructure, and vendor teams to deliver integrated technology solutions.

• Lead technical architecture workshops and participate in vendor technical evaluations, RFPs, and solution assessments.

• Provide technical leadership during implementation, integration, testing, production deployment, and major incident resolution.

• Identify technical risks and dependencies and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.

• Produce and maintain architecture documentation, standards, guidelines, and reference models.

• Mentor technical teams and promote architecture best practices and knowledge sharing across the organization..

• Review and approve solution designs proposed by vendors and implementation teams.

Education, Experience and Competencies

Education

• Bachelor's degree or Above

Experience

• 8+ years of experience in Solution, System, or Enterprise Architecture.

• 4+ years of hands-on experience with API Management and enterprise integration platforms.

• Strong knowledge of API Gateway, REST APIs, Microservices, ESB, and event-streaming technologies such as Kafka.

• Proven experience with API Management platforms such as WSO2, MuleSoft, Apigee, Kong, or Boomi.

• Strong understanding of API security, including OAuth2, JWT, and mTLS.

• Experience delivering complex solutions across the full project lifecycle, from design through production deployment.

• Experience in telecom or large enterprise environments is highly preferred.

• Strong vendor management, performance optimization, and high-availability architecture experience.
