About the Role

Job Title:                                            Data Governance Manager

Reports to:                                         Data & AI Director

Job Purpose:

Data Governance Manager is responsible for the implementation and oversight of the organization’s data management goals, standards, practices, processes, and technologies.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data management practices with regulatory requirements and business goals, fostering a data-driven culture.

Key Tasks/Accountabilities:

 

  1. Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology.

  2. Participate and Organize Data Stewardship Committee and draft the minutes.

  3. Lead the community of data stewards and specialists.

  4. Perform compliance assessment in coordination with stewards on data governance policies, processes and standards across the organization.

  5. Identify and track organization-wide initiatives that can have an impact on the data.

  6. Establish and govern an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap.

  7. Collaborating with leadership across the organization to identify business needs and implement Data Governance and Data Stewardship capabilities.

  8. Facilitate the development and implementation of data management artifacts in coordination with the stewards.

  9. Define DG & DM initiatives performance monitoring metrics.

  10. Achieving data governance objectives, metrics and targets.

  11. Identifying/resolving/escalating data governance related issues from stewards.

  12. Resolve conflicts between business data stewards.

  13. Perform change management activities as per the CM plan.

  14. Ensures that the quality of data is maintained at the highest standards.

  15. Identify areas of opportunity with regards to data quality and lead initiatives to resolve long-standing quality issues.

  16. Formulate data security requirement and data classification framework.

  17. Create and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, privacy, and compliance.

  18. Ensure adherence to data-related regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and mitigate risks related to data misuse or breaches.

  19. Collaborate with Technology to implement data governance tools and systems (e.g., data catalogues, MDM platforms).

 

Typical Performance Measures:

 

  • Quality of department contribution and effective operation.

  • Providing high availability and reliable data/information of the Big Data platforms.

  • Achieving the data integration cross all corporate enterprise applications.

  • Data processing latency less than 15 minutes.

Dimensions:

           

  • Reports to Data and AI Director.

  • Responsible for company job related assets.

  • Advance Data Governance Maturity.

What We Need From You

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field (master’s preferred).

  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related roles.

  • 3+ managerial experience, including experience leading large, cross-functional teams

  • Strong knowledge of DAMA, Data Governance & Quality - policies, processes and tools. CDMP & PMP certification is a plus.

  • Project management experience.

Knowledge:

  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving.

  • Strategic development and implementation experience.

  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality principles, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

  • Knowledge of Data platforms.

  • Proficiency in data modelling, metadata management, and data lineage tools.

  • Strong experience in facilitating discussions with a broad range of stakeholders and various seniority level (associate to senior directors) across the organization.
