About the Role

Job Title: Strategy & Business Planning Advance Specialist

Reports to: Strategy & Business analysis   Manager                                  

 

Job Purpose: To be fully accountable to the Strategy & Business Analysis manager for the complete Business Planning process/lifecycle.

Responsible for translating the company’s strategy to a quantified Business Plan.

Monitor activities to ensure that they are in line with the agreed Strategy, KPIs, and Business Plan          targets.

Perform various business analysis activities/studies to ensure that Zain SD meets its strategic objectives, and propose change of course when needed based on scientific evidence.

 

Key Tasks/Accountabilities

Coordinate effectively and efficiently with involved Functionalities (departments). Ensuring that the business planning processes includes the whole organization (i.e. plan meetings, workshops, check lists, etc.)

Fully responsible for building the Business Plan model to produce a five year forecast for the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash flow statement (P&L,BS,CFS), using both top down and bottom up approaches.

 

Build models for: sensitivity analysis, forecasting, trend analysis to cater for different possible scenarios in the business environment in order to provide decision support insights to the senior management on operational and/or strategic levels

Actively participate in Budget development and re-forecast activities and track changes with the original BP figures.

Perform comprehensive benchmarking studies about the local, regional and international Markets with special emphasis on Sub Saharan Africa and Middle East

Act as the key point of contact with Zain Group in all matters related to Strategy (being able to articulate/present the relation between the environmental scanning related to Zain SD and Sudan socioeconomic conditions and relating that to the industry and the related strategic decisions that impact the Business Plan)

Liaison between Zain Group and Zain SD functional departments in all Business Planning issues

Make sure that all strategic initiatives in the organization can be tied to a strategic objective, that a benefit realization plan with timing and responsibility exists, that all initiatives have sound benefit estimates that justify the project (Business Cases)

Continuously monitor KPIs on the BP level (e.g. financial ratios , ROA, Liquidity ratios, EVA ..etc..) to provide insights on the financial and operational health of the organization, and propose to the management the means to enhance the business performance through simulating different business scenarios, and identify the critical business needs for the preferred scenarios

Have a sound understanding for commercial and technical operational matters and develop analyses models to assist in strategic decision making (e.g. customer value, cost models, risk based scenario analysis models.etc.)

 

Prepare written ad hoc reports and presentations for business analyses for different stakeholders

Apply relevant methodologies for strategy formulation and execution that take into account the organization maturity and readiness. In addition to the current and future market  dynamics, industry trends, and country charectristics

Typical Performance Measures:

PMO /KP I/ Business Plan / Strategy coordination.

  • The Budget proximity to the BP estimates

  • Time to deliver required Documents with the set quality requirements

  • The number of KPIs adopted and successfully implemented 

  • Effective decision making facilitation to top management through the provided analysis    

Dimensions: Have relation with all departments and functional areas for gathering information, report provisioning.... etc.

                

 

 

 

 

What We Need From You

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree from a reputed University.

  • MBA or other professional certification (e.g. CMA, CFA) is a bonus.

  • Track record in business analysis and statistical analysis

  • Needs to perform forecasting and predication using proven statistical methods/tools

  • Sound financial/accounting knowledge

Knowledge

  • Deep insight in Budgeting and Forecasting: Accurate assessment of growth and profit potential (data mining basic capabilities is a bonus)

  • Preferred to have good knowledge in at least one statistical package (SPSS, Minitab, R, Python)

  • Excellent knowledge in MS office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) is mandatory

  • Good background about Mobile technology and industry

  • Excellent research capabilities and statistical analysis knowledge

  • Overall knowledge of finance, budget development and financial metrics

  • Excellent skills with mobile communication, especially, deep knowledge of Zain SD products/Services and the company’s systems and applications

  • Experience in financial analysis with ability to critically analyse and interpret financial information and constructively discuss the implications and challenge   colleagues on their initiative’s financial performance and management

 

 

Skills:

Excellent computer skills and proven knowledge of data analysis using popular MS products specially Excel and Power Point and preferably SPSS and/or R
