About the Role

Job Title: IT Infrastructure Planning & Deployment Team Leader
Reports to: Infrastructure Planning & Deployment Manager

 

Job Purpose: Accountable to Infrastructure Planning & Deployment Manager to manage the Planning, Deployment, and configuration of technology infrastructure elements in alignment to the business demand, technology architecture and roadmaps. Also handling of all IT Infrastructure projects to ensure the planned deliverables of the projects are met and in accordance with Zain business strategy

KEY TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. 1. Manage the deployment and configuration of infrastructure elements, including,

    nodes, storage & backup systems, servers, virtualization, operating systems, data

    centre systems, security systems, cloud services and related tech. equipment as per the

    design (HLD and LLD).

    2. Participate in the technology business planning cycle through identification of project

    plans and cost estimates

    3. Participate in demand planning and management committee for feedback on

    development and project prioritization when needed.

    4. Lead the deployment projects’ life cycle, manage infrastructure development through

    vendors (in case of out-tasking/outsourcing), assess vendor performance and provide

    regular reports and feedback to program management governance (PMO) and vendor

    management.

    5. Responsible for the in-house development / deployment of the IT Infrastructure

    projects and to ensure proper execution.

    6. Lead acceptance tests (unit, platform, integration and operation) and ensure smooth

    handover to operations

    7. Ensure 3rd level support is provided to IT Infrastructure Operations in coordination

    with vendors as needed.

    8. Ensure capacity upgrades are performed in line with planning service capacity

    management guidelines and current capacity status.

    9. To contribute in the design and implementation of testing systems that mirror the live

    environments

    10. Lead the implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity projects.

    11. Ensure effective implementation of strategic projects (part of the technology roadmap)

    12. Lead the deployment and configuration of Core IP Network infrastructure elements,

    including; core routers, core switches, firewalls, internet links, network appliances and

    potentially virtualization13. Support in business acceptance tests for all IT Infrastructure systems- UAT (user

    acceptance tests).

    14. Work closely with Managed service team to achieve department KPIs & targets.

    15. Contribute in the effective management, motivation and development of the team

    resources by liaising closely with the key line management, personnel and other

    relevant parties within the IT Infrastructure to ensure problems/ issues are identified

    and resolve or apparently escalated at an earlier stage.

    16. To be fully accountable for the quality, accuracy timeliness and effectiveness of

    reports, and KPI’s.

    17. Supervise and coach the team members and set their yearly target and conduct the

    performance review (SMART-I’s) on regular basis.

    18. Ensure compliance with all applicable policies & regulatory requirements in

    information security.

Qualifications/Experience:

- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, IS or any related technical

field.

- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similarly sized telecommunications

Development IT environments with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in technical

projects delivery with demonstrated success
Knowledge:

- Broad understanding of the Mobile Telecommunication industry, Local and

international market conditions, regional political climate and communications

regulatory policies.

- Knowledge of IT infrastructure (Virtualization, Cloud, Servers, Storage, Databases,

Backup systems, IP Networks)

- Project Management lifecycle

- Good understanding of best practice in Change Management processes and

methodologies.

- Understanding of GSM mobile operations, products and services.

- Process improvement and management.

- SLA enforcement and measurement.

- Vender Management.
