About the Role

Job Title: Technology Strategy and Transformation Adv. Specialis

Job Purpose

This role will accelerate technology transformation by collaborating with both technology and business functions, as well as vendors, to identify the right problem, generate ideas, and conduct low-cost experiments and prototypes to validate assumptions/solutions and extract insights to shape the transformation required initiatives’ decisions, broader visions, strategies, and requirements, focusing on automation, AI, and data-driven solutions mainly using cost-effective public cloud SAAS and/or managed services. The goal is to enhance the agility and effectiveness of the technology function while fostering a data-centric and customer-centric approach, supporting Zain's digital transformation journey toward becoming the preferred mobile operator.

 Key Tasks / Accountability

Network Data-Centricity Operation Strategy Experimentation and Validation

Collaborate with OSS, Operations, Planning, Service Quality, and vendors to develop a Network Data Strategy and Top-down data-centric operations architecture to enhance insights into network operations, performance, events, cause and contributing factors, capacity, and probable future trends and outcomes through iterative, experimental pilots, leveraging data observability, AI, and cloud technologies before scaling up.

 

  • Identify key business questions (KBQs) and performance metrics to be addressed using data from networks, OSS, availability, traffic, terminal penetration, rollouts, expansion, users, customer complaints, social listening, and other relevant sources.

  • Lead collaborative efforts to experiment with, build, and deploy data models leveraging non-capex-intensive public cloud technologies like AWS.

  • Design self-service dashboards and advocate for the use of AI-driven network copilots to support problem understanding, improve customer visibility, and optimize capacity planning and management.

 

Data-Driven Application Strategy Experimentation and Valuation

Collaborate with development, operations, customer experience, and business teams to define a data-driven strategy and practice for Zain's customer apps and touchpoints to enhance customer insights, engagement, and convergence. Pilot and validate the concept using experiments that leverage Design Thinking, cloud-native designs, data observability, and public cloud services.

 

  • Define the technology and enterprise efficiency and agility problems and collaborate with stakeholders to define the possible technical solutions focusing on AI, Automation, Robotics, and cognitive solutions

  • Identify key business questions (KBQs), assumptions, and performance metrics to guide the data-driven application/touchpoint development validation experiments.

  •  Determine data requirements to enhance customer engagement and convergence across applications and touchpoints throughout the digital sales funnel / customer journey

  • Promote the use of Design Thinking practices and problem definitions as essential inputs for application and touchpoint design.

  • Collaborate on the development of a reference Digital Capability model for customer touchpoints.

  • Led the experimentation of pilot implementation of public cloud-based applications data pipelines and/or platforms to generate customer insights and recommendations across apps and touchpoints.

  • Train teams and create use cases to advocate for data observability and application development on public cloud platforms.

  • Create frameworks to evaluate legacy applications/touchpoints for potential refactoring or re-platforming and identify new applications to follow emerging patterns.

 

Enterprise Digital Transformation Accelerations via Experimentation and Valuation

Work closely with Application Development, Operations, and Business Excellence teams to accelerate enterprise digital transformation through experimentation and validation. Leverage Automation, AI, and cognitive technologies (e.g., IDP, IDC, process & task mining, communication mining, NLP, test automation) to streamline processes, minimize manual efforts, and boost operational agility, efficiency, and sustainability.

 

  • Define the technology and enterprise efficiency and agility problems and collaborate with stakeholders to define the possible technical solutions focusing on AI, Automation, Robotics, and cognitive solutions

  • Collaborate to validate the solutions in the form of experiments: defining experiments requirements, outcomes, assumptions, KBQs, and boundaries, success factors

  • Document learnings and support in the decision of either to scale the solution, pivot or pull the plug

  • Based on learning, define the technology and enterprise-wide automation strategy, framework, use cases, Roadmap, and guidelines in collaboration with the Business Excellence function

  • Create presentations and short training sessions to advocate for using automation, AI, and cognitive technologies to transform the enterprise and technology landscape.

What We Need From You

Personal Specifications

 

Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor's or master’s in engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Background in technology strategy, data management, applications development, OSS and/or automation

  • Experience in public cloud technologies and services (mainly AWS).

  • Understanding of cloud-native technologies and designs in public cloud

  • Knowledge of telecommunications network operations, especially OSS

  • Knowledge of AI/ML-driven solutions, Agentic AI, IDP, RPA, data modeling, Data Engineering, Data Observability, and digital transformation initiatives.

  • Strong background in network/IT operations, customer experience, or related areas in the telecommunications industry.

  • Familiarity with Design Thinking methodologies and customer-centric development.

  • General knowledge of Services (online systems), Batch processing systems (offline systems), and Stream processing systems (near-real-time systems).

  • Certificate in (CDMP, AWS Data Engineer, AWS AI Practitioner, AWS Developer) is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture Frameworks and practices in leading transformation
