Job Title:                                             Big Data Ingestion Team Leader

Reports to:                                         Big Data Manager

 

Job Purpose:

 

Responsible and accountable for the design, development, release, and operations of the data warehouse and the company business requirements which support the management in decision-making.

 

Key Tasks/Accountabilities:

 

  1. Work closely with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders to identify and maximize opportunities to best utilize Zain's big data and data warehousing solution to improve business processes and determine how it might assist in addressing their needs, and then translate these needs into system requirements and designs.

  2. Responsible and accountable to build systems to perform real-time data processing using Spark Streaming and Kafka, or similar technologies.

  3. Provide the corporate leadership, vision, and direction for Zain Big Data and data warehouse, ensuring support of the company’s business objectives and requirements.

  4. Responsible and accountable for building the operational knowledge base.

  5. To work closely with big data quality and BI and Analytics teams to enhance platform features/capabilities and design/build new data marts/models.

  6. To contribute to the effective management, motivation, and development of Big data development and operation team resources by liaising closely with key line management personnel and other relevant parties within the Technology division, to ensure problems/issues are identified and resolved or appropriately escalated at an early stage.

  7. Coordinate with corporate internal and external audit functions and follows up with implementation based on audit recommendation.

  8. Record and maintain system data models, processes, workflows, and configuration changes.

  9.  Responsible for the upgrade of data warehouse and services releases that are required to keep the business systems up to date and to minimize the risk of destabilizing the business.

  10.  Manage relationships and agreements with contractors, suppliers, and partners.

  11. Focuses on physical data modeling and database design of the big data and the DWH, Metadata definitions and models, optimization, recovery strategy, load strategy design, and implementation.

  12.  Adhere to processes, procedures, activities, and systems for accurate recording and reporting.

  13.  Ensure compliance with all applicable policies &; regulatory requirements on Information Security.

What We Need From You

Qualifications/Experience:

  • BSC in Computer/Telecommunication Engineering/IT or Computer science

  • Previous experience in management or leadership roles

  • A Mobile Telecommunications background is desirable

  • 3+ years of Relevant work experience in telecom enterprise data management applications.

  • In-depth knowledge of Big Data systems (Cloudera stack).

 

Knowledge:

 

  • Good understanding of Hadoop/Kafka/Flume/Spark/Hive/Impala/Yarn

  • Good knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies (DNS, Proxy, LDAP) and connectivity techniques.

  • Good knowledge of Networking, connectivity, and routing concepts.

  • Telecommunication experience.

  • Cloudera Distribution knowledge.

  • Strong ability to understand complex system landscape configuration considering the E2E view.

 

Skills:

 

  • Ability to interpret and apply best practice methods/processes

  • Excellent communication with different stakeholders (business, technical, project)

  • Excellent innumeracy and analytical skills

  • Analytical technical skills to be able to predict the consequences of configuration changes (impact analysis), to identify root causes that are not obvious, and to understand the business requirements.
