Job Title:                                CS Core Planning & Deployment Engineer

Reports to:                             CS Core Planning & Deployment Team Leader

Job Purpose:

 

Accountable to the CS Core & Deployment Planning Team Leader in providing inputs into the design of capacity and load planning for Zain network and delivering System planning and design for Zain SD CS core network. Ensure CS core network plans and dimensions according to commercial/business requirements and Zain strategy.

 

Key Tasks/Accountabilities:

 

  • Manage the design (HLD and LLD) of CS core network elements, including; CS (MSS, MGW etc.), IMS, international voice gateways and potentially virtualization.

  • Develop mobile CS core network plans based on business forecasts and scope deployment projects (produce PIP)

  • Follow up on CS core architecture design and technology evolution, and assess architectural feasibility of Core requirements.

  • Participate in the technology business planning cycle through identification of annual project plans and the cost estimates.

  • Evaluate business, service requests, projects scope and features related.

  • Participate in demand planning and management committee for feedback on development and project prioritization

  • Manage the planning life cycle, manage CS core planning through vendors (in case of out-tasking/outsourcing), assess vendor performance and provide feedback to program management governance and vendor management (when required).

  • Prepare acceptance tests documents (unit, platform, integration and ops) and ensure smooth handover to operation.

  • Prepare business acceptance tests for CS core nodes, IMS, international voice gateways etc. (and other services) - UAT (user acceptance tests)

  • Plan for capacity upgrades in line with service capacity management guidelines and current capacity status.

  • Provide 3rd level support in coordination with vendors as needed.

  • Design testing systems that mirror the live environments.

  • Design CS core specific NMS solutions.

  • Participate in the development of RFP scopes/specifications/response/validation/ assessment in alignment with vendor management

  • Design strategic projects (part of the technology roadmap)

  • Produce, maintain switch drawings, blue prints and all associated documents with core network solutions to demonstrate requirements against current and future business expansion

  • Input into the development contingency plans to mitigate risks/issues as the Zain SD network expands and the business grows.

  • Participate in technical discussion with internal parties in order to gather product- related information to be used in the planning process during new services requests.

  • Validating and approving new commercial offers and products that embrace CS core network.

  • Provide technical solutions for the corporate Enterprise customers.

  • To be fully accountable for the quality, accuracy timeliness and effectiveness of reports, KPI’s and the team SMAR-I’s.

  • Communicate with the Technology Planning & Deployment teams on day-to-day tasks.

  • Coordinate with other Technology teams (Including MS team) for network plans implementation and operational issues.

  • Coordinate with other Zain SD departments like Commercial for new/upgraded services.

  • Coordinate with vendors.

What We Need From You
  • PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Qualifications/Experience:

  •  

  • Mobile Telecommunications background desirable

  • Should have previous strong track record of success in planning activities in a multi-site, expanding business

  • Professional qualification preferred – B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering/Telecommunications or any relevant degree

  • Minimum 2 years in relevant field.

    Knowledge:

  •  

  • Excellent knowledge in CS Core Network from aspects of Planning and Deployment.

  • Knowledge of signalling and traffic protocols (Sigtran, SIP, BICC etc.)

  • Core nodes dimensioning and traffic profiling

  • Project delivery management in leading CS core projects.

  • Understanding of GSM/WCDMA/LTE network mobile operations, products and services.

  • Good understanding of the Sudan market and Zain SD business strategy, goals and competitive environment
