As  Interconnect & Carriers Relations Specialist you will be report into Interconnect & Carriers Relations   Team Leader and accountable for  the for the commercial and administrative support that contributes to the department’s objectives of being effective and efficient in end-to-end negotiations, management and delivery of Zain’s Interconnect & Carriers Relations objectives.


  • You will be asked to administrate    all aspects of new and existing Interconnect agreements: renegotiate commercial conditions when applicable, control of contract expiration dates. 
  • You Prepare plans for the leased lines and leased capacities and study the effect of long haul deals on ZAIN SD business.
  • You will be asked for analyze traffic patterns and report abnormality.
  • You will administer all aspects of infrastructure sharing, hosting, and Swap Deals in national / international domains.
  • You will prepare and negotiate plans of internet capacities deals.
  • You will maintain existing accounts within the National / International domain and ensure those accounts deliver maximum profit to ZAIN SD by constantly seeking to meet the needs of ZAIN SD and safeguarding current business. 
  • You will develop new business within the National / International by building relationships with new operators. 
  • You will undertake strategic analysis of current National / International relationships to determine whether new entrants into the market should be approached and business relationships established with them.
  • You will be accountable for ensure agreements for the majority of business are bi-lateral whereby both ZAIN SD and its business partners build strong relationships, and secure the traffic flow both ways with volume agreements in a competitive market.
  • You will be asked to manage the National / International accounts effectively to ensure all business partners are contacted regularly and their current and future needs are addressed and the relationships strengthened. 
  • You will develop strategic plans for the regional accounts aligned to the overall strategy for the Carrier Relations & Regulatory Department, and implement those plans to ensure delivery of targets. 
  • You will constantly develop own knowledge of the regulatory frameworks within the countries in the region to identify opportunities for ZAIN SD.
  • You will be asked for build and maintain relationships with all regulatory bodies as well as operators in the region. 
  • You will maintain a knowledge management system to capture all regional account/relationship data which can be made available to the commercial sector and other units within ZAIN SD. 
  • You will provide reports on a monthly basis on progress in National / International accounts to Management which clearly demonstrate activities, changes to markets, and progress against targets.
  • You will continuously analyze and negotiate based on the traffic profile of ZAIN SD to achieve the best cost per minute.
  • You will analyze and build network based on needs of ZAIN SD operations across the globe at the optimum cost.
  • You will represent ZAIN SD at various international wholesale events and forums for building and capitalizing relationships.
  • You will daily monitor for the voice traffic trend related and identify abnormalities/opportunities/weakness, and propose/take the necessary actions to increase the daily incoming traffic.
  • You will be responsible for provide Monthly reporting to the team leader containing the   In / Out calls , Ongoing deals, Expected close date of ongoing deals , Closed deals , Top Ten Out / In countries in traffic volumes, Revenue & cost  and any additional required Ad hoc Reports.
  • You will work with wholesale billing and settlement teams to ensure proper invoices and billing of the client and coordinate with all internal teams to configure the billing system with the appropriate tariffs, traffic routing.
  • You will provide, develop and update strategic and financial plans of international telecom accounts such as - but not limited to - (international gateways, international Hubs and aggregators)
  • You will supervise coordination with Regulatory and Legal Affairs to ensure compliance and appropriateness of contracts and associated activities.
  • You will take the necessary actions to route the outgoing voice traffic based on LCR or quality parameters (Qos).
  • You will monitor the Quality of Service (QoS), capacity with the partners, and expand the links where necessary. 
  • You will be responsible for expand and optimize the number of interconnect agreements in-line with the wholesale strategies.
  • You will be the primary point of contact towards Partners on all wholesale and interconnect matters.
  • You will establish and implement a clear relationship management strategy towards Partners to maximize benefits to ZAIN SD;
  • You will ensure that ZAIN SD minimizes its national and international interconnection costs, through efficient call routing, whilst maintaining the desired quality of service standards.
  • You will introduce new carriers or solutions that allow us to reduce our interconnect or service costs.
  • You will ensure that we efficiently manage, develop and maximize our interconnect revenues (national and international incoming).
  • You will participate in setting and execute the Team yearly strategies, targets and objectives and align it with the company business plan and assure business performance is up to the strategy, road map and the business plan.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable policies & regulatory requirements on Information Security will be under your responsibility.


  • You will be required to have B.Sc in Computer Science / Engineering, Business Administration or any relevant field with minimum 2 years previous experience in a relevant field.
  • MBA will be an advantage.
  • You will be required to ability to apply best practice Project Management methods/processes and apply best practice methods/processes.
  • You will be asked to have in-depth understanding of the Sudan market and ZAIN business strategy, goals and competitive environment.
  •  You will be asked to have good understanding of International Voice Interconnection , VOIP and have strong drive towards cost saving as well as to have an  idea about Voice / Data capacities    .
